Over the last year there was a lot of talk that Dwayne Johnson may consider a move into politics. It is not a crazy idea. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a well regarded Republican Governor of California during his break in his acting career. Ronald Reagan was an actor. Donald Trump would probably say he was the greatest actor in the world following cameos in Home Alone 2 and The Little Rascals
President Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. You could actually have seen it happening.
Not anymore, though. Johnson says he is no longer considering a run for President of the United States when talking to CBS Sunday Morning. This whole idea came from an interview a few years ago with GQ Magazine where he was asked and said he would consider it.
He then, apparently, met with some analysts to commission some research. He probably found out that, unless you get to Pelosi levels of access to information to share with your stockbroker, then there is more money in acting. He said to CBS that he wants to prioritize being a father over everything:
“It’s off the table. Yes. It is off the table. I will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.
I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter’s…Growing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and that’s what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy. That’s it.”
Black Adam is out on October 21st so we imagine Dwayne Johnson will be absolutely everywhere for the next few weeks.
