John William is a genuine legend of cinema. You only have to mention Superman (1978), Star Wars, or Harry Potter, and you can hum the theme tune and it suddenly transports you to the opening credits of that movie.

John and Steve

A documentary is being made about Williams and his amazing career by his good friend, and long-time collaborator, Steve Spielberg via his company Amblin Television.

This new feature-length documentary will be directed by Laurent Bouzereau, who has worked with Spielberg for many years, making documentaries about his movies all the way back to the making of Jaws.

Williams was thought to be retiring after finishing Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but Williams has since stated that he will continue his career.

Williams started composing music for TV shows like Lost in Space, M Squad, and Gilligan’s Island. He has even written musical themes for some of the Summer and Winter Olympic games.

He first worked with Spielberg on Sugarland Express and since then the two of them have worked on some of the biggest movies of all time. A documentary about John Williams would be a fascinating watch. Spielberg has said about Williams:

“I don’t think we’ve ever had a disagreement. I mean, what am I going to do? Sit down and write the music myself?”
