It seems Jessica Chastain has been in the makeup chair for about 4 hours a day for her transformation into televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker.
A new movie is due out called The Eyes of Tammy Faye:
An intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker.
It stars Chastain, Vincent D’Onofrio, Andrew Garfield, Cherry Jones and Sam Jaeger. It is directed by Michael Showalter and written by Abe Sylvia. The movie is based on a documentary of the same title.
Tammy Faye Bakker, and her husband Jim Bakker, were TV evangelists who found fame amongst many religious groups, as they presented a show together in the 1970s called The PLT Club (The Praise The Lord Club).
The couple became more widely known when they were found guilty of numerous fraud charges in 1989.
Garfield is playing Tammy’s husband Jim. Tammy passed way of cancer in 2007. Chastain said of her :
“People were always making her into a clown and punishing her for the mistakes of her husband, which all throughout history women have been the victim of, atoning for the sins of men.”
She also said about the makeup routine she had to go through :
“I have a dimple in my chin that she didn’t have, so we would seal that up. Her face was more round than mine, so I would have things on my cheeks.”
The Eyes of Tammy Faye is due out in September 2021.
