Day Shift is something I hadn’t heard anything about. Then the trailer appeared on line recently.
Before I watched the trailer, I just thought it was going to be a Blade rip off, but it doesn’t seem that way. The action looks pretty good. On the downside, I’m not a fan of Snoop Dogg. Well, not as an actor.
Day Shift is from new director J J Perry, who has previously worked on stunts and then as a second unit director for a few movies. It’s written by Shay Hatton, known for John Wick 3, but also Army of the Dead (2021) and Tyler Tice, who is new on the scene.
The movie is produced by Chad Stahelski, who is known for helming the John Wick series so far. It stars Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dog, Dave Franco, Scott Adkins, C S Lee and Meagan Good. The story is:
“A hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter. His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.”
It’s been rated R for “strong violence and gore and language” so it might be fun. I can’t remember the last decent vampire movie I saw? Day Shift will be streaming on Netflix on 12th Aug this year.
