Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes have been signed to direct three episodes each of Ironheart. The Ryan Coogler-produced series will run for six episodes on Disney+, being created by Marvel Studios. Chinaka Hodge serves as head writer.
Dominique Thorne will play Riri Williams. She is a brilliant teenage inventor who builds her own version of the Iron Man suit in an MIT dorm.
The character will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before transferring to her own limited show.
After the events of Avengers: Endgame it is likely that the TV show will follow the post-Civil War II version of the character. In this iteration, Pepper Potts confronts Riri Williams. Tony Stark, who has transferred his consciousness into a device becoming an A.I., attempts to explain the problems of being a superhero.
The story involves Sharon Carter and a group of Biohack ninjas. The Hall of Armor makes an appearance and the storyline ends with Riri being inducted into The Champions. As we know, Marvel loves a supergroup!
No word yet on whether Robert Downey Jr or Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise their roles.
The series was first announced in December 2020. Ryan Coogler, writer and director of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, co-develops the series through his company Proximity Media.
Ironheart is scheduled to begin in June 2022 in Atlanta.
