The maestro himself, the one and only John Williams, gave a concert at the Hollywood Bowl last night. He took the opportunity to debut a piece of new music from the upcoming Indiana Jones 5.
The track is called Helena’s Theme and covers Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character in the film. Director James Mangold himself has shared the link to a recording of the performance. This was originally posted cinematographer Chuck Ozeas. So we guess this is official?
There is sadness about the music for Indiana Jones 5, as Williams has said he will retire after this, making it his final movie score. As Williams is pretty much responsible for the soundtrack to our movie lives, we are not sure where we go after this.
90-year-old Williams explained, as part of the performance, that Mangold the one suggesting he play it at this concert.
Williams refers to the character of Helena in his pre-amble. He uses phrases like “an adventuress” and “femme fatale”, referring to her theme as being reminiscent of “an old movie star”.
Harrison Ford, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, and Boyd Holbrook are also in Indiana Jones 5, which opens June 30th next year.
