Robitel and Heffernan have already written the pilot for The Craving and Robitel will direct the pilot and is game for filming other episodes as well.
Deadline reports that The Craving, a new horror series from The Taking of Deborah Logan team, will explore:
“the real-world horrors of addiction through a genre lens. It centers around a female sheriff in a Colorado ski town besieged by an unprecedented new threat.”
Aside from their previous work on Deborah Logan, Robitel and Heffernan served as writers on Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and have a previously announced project also in development with Sam Raimi’s production company.
Aronofsky will serve as an executive producer on the project along with Elizabeth Gesas under the Protozoa Pictures banner.
Aronofsky, meanwhile, has been busy for A24 directing The Whale. An upcoming drama film written by Samuel D. Hunter, based on his play of the same name.
The film will star Brendan Fraser as a 600-pound middle-aged man named Charlie who tries to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter. The two grew apart after Charlie abandoned his family for his gay lover, who later died. Charlie then went on to binge eat out of pain and guilt.
Netflix has not released any further details for The Craving, but we’ll let you know as soon as they do.
