Jon Favreau noted that he wanted the Razor Crest to look like a military surplus vehicle. From there, they took World War II plane aesthetics, other military-style aircraft, and vessels photographed in airport graveyards.

In addition, Favreau wanted the ship to look like it could predate the iconic X-Wing fighters from the original Star Wars trilogy. Finally, he wanted the Razor Crest to recall original designs by George Lucas and Ralph McQuarrie.

The highly anticipated second season of Lucasfilm’s critically acclaimed series isn’t too far away now. The plot for the new season will follow The Mandalorian and the Child continuing their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Empire.

The new series of The Mandalorian premieres on Disney+, October 30th.
