Film Will Premiere Next Year

WarnerMedia has acquired worldwide rights to Doug Liman’s Lockdown and will debut the heist flick on HBO Max next year.

The story is set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor as a sparring married couple who call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist at Harrod’s, the world’s most exclusive department store.

Parts of the film were shot on location at the Harrods of London store. Presumably, Home Bargains was busy that day. The film itself centres on a heist that takes place during the pandemic lockdown.

Filmed in the UK, Lockdown has a fairly solid cast that includes Ben Stiller, Lily James, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Mindy Kaling, Ben Kingsley, and Dulé Hill.

Liman, who previously directed films like Edge Of Tomorrow, Go, and The Bourne Identity, is behind the camera, and Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke, Serenity) wrote the script.

AGC Studios is financing the movie, and it was produced by PJ van Sandwijk (American Dharma, Citizen K), Alison Winter, and Michael Lesslie (Assassin’s Creed).

In a recent, unrelated deal, it emerged that Wonder Woman 1984 will launch day-and-date on the platform and in US cinemas on December 25th.
