It seems that Kevin Hart and Will Smith have been looking to do a project together for a while now, but they couldn’t seem to find the right movie to do, well, it seems they might have found one now, a remake of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Nothing is set in stone just yet, so this is rumor control.
Hart is quoted as saying :
“Me and Will have been talking about doing a movie for the longest time and we just [couldn’t] put our finger on what that movie was. So, for us to get to a point where we agree that said material was our project – because our personalities not only fit, but we could really pop in this situation – it was just a no-brainer.
Remaking this movie is something we are excited about. We can’t wait to do it. The studio’s happy and it’s about rolling my sleeves up and getting the script to where it’s supposed to be.”
The original Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) starred John Candy and Steve Martin and was written and directed by John Hughes and is generally considered a beloved classic. The story follows Neal Page(Martin) as he tries to get home for Thanks Giving only to have Del Griffith (Candy) tag along. There are some wonderfully classic moments in it.
As said, there’s nothing set in stone just yet concerning Planes, Trains and Automobiles, but it does seem that Hart is already making another John Candy remake, The Great Outdoors. What’s next Uncle Buck? Cool Runnings? Spaceballs?
It might be nice to see Hart and Smith together on screen, but it would have been nice to see them in an original idea and not try and remake a movie that doesn’t need a remake.
There are no dates yet for the movie.
