John Carpenter is known for directing some of the most iconic horror films of all time. What may be overlooked is his contribution to movie scores. Since 1974, John has composed eighteen movie scores. From Dark Star to Halloween (2018), John has an impressive body of work. On top of that, John has more than 60 soundtrack credits on productions like Planet Terror, Limitless, Stranger Things, Happy!, and Homecoming.
Since this is part of Hallow Fest, we will take a look at the horror films that John created the scores. Note that The Thing is not on this list as the late great Ennio Morricone was the composer. I think he must have worked closely with John as the music is very close to his style.
Here are the ten horror themes from John Carpenter.
Ghosts Of Mars (2001)
In The Mouth Of Madness (1995)
Prince of Darkness (1987)
The Fog (1980)
Halloween III: Season Of The Witch (1982)
Halloween II (1981)
