Berlanti is at it again! When it comes to DC heroes he simply will not be stopped. He is behind a ten episode series of Green Lantern that has just been handed a series order from HBO Max. Co-writers will be Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie) and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow).
The series is said to be epic in scale, taking place across decades and several different versions of the Green Lantern. Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz versions will appear. Just like in the comics it will also feature first ever Green Lantern Alan Scott, and he will be gay.
The series will also include fan favorite characters such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps. No word yet on any cameo planned for Ryan Reynolds. Berlanti co-wrote and co-produced the badly received movie effort.
When the project was first unveiled last year Berlanti said it was:
“…unlike anything seen on television. In what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series.”
HBO Max Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey had already said that the series:
“…span several decades on focus on two stories about Green Lanterns on Earth, as well as one in space with the story of Sinestro.”
Grahame-Smith will also serve as showrunner leaving Berlanti to Exec Produce.
