Because you demanded it, Paramount+ is making a prequel to Grease to be called Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. Wait… what do you mean you didn’t demand it? Well, we didn’t demand it either. So who is asking for this stuff? Probably the same person who wanted a Saved By The Bell reboot.

Well whether we all like it or not, this sh*t is actually happening so we had better tell you about it so you can make plans to avoid it.

It will be set four years before the original movie. That was set in 1954. In Grease: The Rise Of The Pink Ladies four outcasts at Rydell High will dare to have fun on their own terms and in the process spark a moral panic that will change the school forever.

The cast includes Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally, and Jackie Hoffman as Asst. Principal McGee.

No sassy Stockard Channing, no sale!

Grease: The Rise Of The Pink Ladies is currently filming in Vancouver. The series will be ten episodes long and will arrive on Paramount+ later this year. Annabel Oakes serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

The original was released on June 16, 1978. Grease was successful both critically and commercially, becoming the highest-grossing musical film ever at the time.

Its soundtrack album ended 1978 as the second-best-selling album of the year in the United States, behind the soundtrack of the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever which gave Travolta a one-two.

The movie earned an Oscar nomination for Hopelessly Devoted to You at the 51st Academy Awards. In 2020, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.

Since then a million High School drama departments have butchered it in a million different ways.
