Ryan Gosling is a man in demand. He’s deep in production on the intriguing Barbie, where he plays Ken in Greta Gerwig’s adaption of the well known toy line. I say intriguing as we have no idea of tone and approach yet and something really unexpected might happen.

He’s also in the spy action thriller The Gray Man which is due on Netflix any day now. One rumor that would not go away is that his appearance in the MCU is imminent. The rumor is that he has been approached to play a key role in the Nova that is now in active development at Marvel Studios.

Gosling spoke to MTV News and blows a hole in that. He said, directly, the Nova rumors have no truth in them. No conversations have happened. However the interview with Josh Horowitz did reveal that there is one role that would get him running straight into the MCU.

Marvel

Ghost Rider.

Just one problem though. Ghost Rider has already appeared in the MCU, in the television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where he was played by Gabriel Luna. One more problem, there are no plans to bring the character to the screen and there is no movie in development at this time.

Would Gosling’s star power make Marvel look into this? Or did the Nic Cage led movies draw a line under that for Marvel?

Negative Ghostrider, the franchise is full…

The first superhero Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, debuted in Marvel Spotlight issue #5 (Aug. 1972). He was created by Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas, writer Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog. He received his own series in 1973

Blaze returned as Ghost Rider in a 2001 six-issue miniseries written by Devin Grayson and then a second miniseries written by Garth Ennis in 2005.
