WandaVision director Matt Shakman has signed on to the live-action Godzilla & The Titans series that is in active development by Legendary Television for Apple TV. series at Apple TV+ and Legendary Television. Shakman is also set to direct the upcoming Star Trek sequel that has finally got the go-ahead at Paramount.
He will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer on the series, so this is going to take some organizing.
The show is said to continue the story of the Legendary Monsterverse. It will explore one family’s journey to uncover buried secrets and a secret legacy linking them to the mysterious organization known as Monarch. This will link into the four Monsterverse movies and also align with the fifth that Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is making.
Chris Black and Matt Fraction co-created the series. The Executive Producer roster includes Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Hiro Matsuoka, and Takemasa Arita. Chris Black will also serve as the head-honcho showrunner.
The Monsterverse, the shared fictional universe featuring Godzilla, King Kong, and other Toho monster characters, has made the studio big money. The four movies so far have a combined gross of $1.950 billion worldwide.
Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) will be joined by both this show, the fifth movie, and a second TV show to build out the world.
