The Witcher star Freya Allan is set to do battle with an evil being in an up-and-coming horror movie Baghead.
Baghead is based on a short film of the same title that was made by director Alberto Corredor. From the blurb:
The story itself revolves around a mysterious, wrinkled-up figure named Baghead, who’s able to “manifest the dead and bring them back to our world for short intervals”.
People who are grieving seek out Baghead in order to reconnect with friends and family who have passed away. But the creepy character’s true intentions soon reveal themselves – and there is a steep cost for those who want to reach their lost loved ones.
To create a full-length movie the new version will build on this storyline and take a Saw-like approach, but with added supernatural elements. Allan will play the film’s lead, who must contend with the evil entity which has deep connections to her family’s past.
Allan has been busy since starring as Ciri in The Witcher. She also has a supporting role in the new action-thriller Gunpowder Milkshake starring alongside Karen Gillian which is due out in August 2021.
Baghead will be directed by original director of the short film Alberto Corredor. Christina Pamies and Bryce McGuire wrote the script. Studiocanal will commence worldwide sales at the Cannes Market.
Season 2 of The Witcher is due out on Netflix later this year with Friday 9th July set aside for a virtual fan event. This is described as:
“…an epic event for Witcher fans old and new…”
The event will be streaming on Twitch and YouTube.
Baghead has no release date as yet.
