Frank Grillo had a pretty big break with the MCU and his fairly brief appearance as Crossbones, but he did a good job in it. Since then, some of his movies have been a little hit and miss.

He is now working on a new movie called Hounds of War. Not much is known about it at the moment, the plot is described as :

After a mission goes wrong, only one of a group of mercenaries is left alive to take revenge for this brothers.

At the moment, the only cast is Grillo. It’s being directed by Lowell Dean and being written by Jean Pierre Margo. Grillo is executive producing, alongside Dean Devlin of Independence Day fame. It begins filming in Malta later this year.

Frank Grillo recently said he didn’t really want to return to the MCU for Avengers: End Game, since he didn’t like what had happened to Crossbones. He has returned for the animated series What If…, but only as a voice artist.

He revealed last year that he has a 5 movie contract with Marvel, even though his character is now pushing up the daisies. Not sure how that will work, but then again, it’s Marvel. Is anyone ever really dead? He said about it:

“You know what? I got five more movies that I’m obligated to do for Marvel if they ever call me. So who knows, man? Maybe I’ll be Captain America after [Anthony] Mackie. I’ll be a middle-aged Captain America. A middle-aged, Italian Captain America. Think about that.”

In the meantime he has about 8 other movies due out, so he has been a busy little bee.

No news of when Hounds of War will be out, but the rest of his movies look like they are on a once-a-month schedule for the next year, seemingly.
