Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, Wembley, and Uncle Traveling Matt are all back, as are the Doozers. Apple TV+ has been working on a reboot of Jim Henson’s 1980s classic muppet series Fraggle Rock. Now they are ready to share a trailer.

Fraggle Rock: Rock On was a big hit for them in the last year with the series of mini-episodes. This full series will be titled Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson (Community) are attached to executive produce and write.

The original Fraggle Rock show was an international co-production of Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was co-produced by British television company Television South, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), U.S. pay television service Home Box Office, and Henson Associates.

Unlike Sesame Street, which had been created for the single market of the US and was only later adapted for international markets, Fraggle Rock was always intended to be an international production from the start.

That concept grew out of Jim Henson’s experience adapting Sesame Street to the requirements of foreign markets. The human segments were produced separately in several countries, so the viewer could always relate to the world of the program. Fraggle Rock eventually appeared in over 10 countries and languages.

Alongside these segments, music played a central part in Fraggle Rock. Every episode featured two or three original songs. These were co-written by Canadian poet Dennis Lee and Philip Balsam.

Lisa Henson, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, John Tartaglia and Halle Stanford will also executive produce. The series will debut on Apple TV+ from January 21st.
