Apple has been doing it’s thing, virtually this time due to COVID19, and unveiling new iPhone home screens, OS updates and all that jazz. Then it surprised everyone by chosing to close its WWDC presentation yesterday evening with a teaser trailer. A first look at the adaption of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation that is coming to Apple TV+.
A band of exiles must go on a perilous journey. The aim is to save all of humanity and rebuild civilization amid the catastrophic fall of a Galactic Empire.
Production on the show was halted due to COVID-19 back in March. Obviously FX work has been ongoing remotely to allow them to pull this trailer together. Apple is betting big on this show and are committed to a release next year. It has the potential to be their tentpole show. Potentially chalk another one up to decent adult sci-fi alongside Dune if this thing flies.
The cast is led by Jared Harris as Hari Seldon. He is joined by Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal, Leah Harvey as Salvor, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk and Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn.
Skydance is the production house with David S. Goyer on the points as executive producer. Over the years many have tried to adapt the story but all have failed. Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross also executive produce.
