Former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, is making his comic book movie debut in Black Adam. He will play the man with the golden mask, Dr. Fate, in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson superhero adaption at New Line, Warner Bros. Pictures, and DC Films.

Brosnan will join the rest of a classic Justice Society lineup that includes Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Black Adam

The original Doctor Fate was Kent Nelson who discovered the tomb of the wizard Nabu and was trained by him in the ways of sorcery in order to fight crime and the forces of evil. He was a founding member of the Justice Society of America.

Brosnan will play this version in the Black Adam film. A son of an archaeologist who was taught sorcery skills and was given the magical Helmet of Fate.

Aladdin and The Old Guard star Marwan Kenzari is also cast in a role that is yet to be announced.

Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) is directing and the movie is gearing up now for a shoot to start as early as next week in Atlanta. Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, and Hiram Garcia are producing. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the script.

Along with Black Adam, Brosnan has a new musical adaptation of Cinderella on the way, with a casting director who has clearly never seen Mamma Mia.
