Hugh Jackman has shared a first look teaser for Lisa Joy’s upcoming sci-fi film Reminiscence, which also stars Thandie Newton.

Joy is one of the showrunners of the HBO sci-fi series Westworld and wife to Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan Nolan.

Here’s the teaser –

The plot for Reminiscence follows Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private investigator who deals in recapturing vivid cherished memories for clients. His life will completely change when he meets a mysterious client (Ferguson), with who he falls in love with. One day, the woman suddenly disappears leaving Nick completely lost. When he decides to search for her, he discovers different aspects of her personality that he didn’t know before.

Starring alongside Jackman and Newton are Rebecca Ferguson (Dune), Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider), Angela Sarafyan (Westworld), Cliff Curtis (Doctor Sleep), Natalie Martinez (Death Race) and Marina De Tavira (Roma).

Jackman last appeared in Corey Findlay’s 2019 movie Bad Education, which is based on the true story of the largest public school embezzlement in American history.

Joy wrote the screenplay and will direct, making Reminiscence her directorial debut. She will produce alongside Jonathan Nolan, Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder.

It was originally scheduled to be released on April 16th, 2021, before the slot was replaced by Mortal Kombat and the film was left undated, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was later rescheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on September 3rd, 2021, with an international theatrical rollout beginning on August 25, 2021.

As part of its plans for all of its 2021 films, Warner Bros. will also stream Reminiscence simultaneously on the HBO Max service in the United States for a period of one month, after which the film will be removed until the normal home media release schedule period.
