60s-Set Netflix Film

Netflix has released the first photos from Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming 60s-set film The Trial Of The Chicago 7, based on true events.

Oscar-winner Sorkin wrote and directed the drama which tells the story of the anti-Vietnam protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention that turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard.

The ringleaders of the protest (which included Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale) were charged by the federal government under the Richard Nixon administration with multiple crimes, including conspiracy and inciting a riot.

The Trial Of The Chicago 7 stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, and Frank Langella. John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong, and Noah Robbins.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also appear as members of the Black Panther’s, Fred Hampton and Bobby Seale. Seale was the eighth defendant charged when the group were dubbed the Chicago 8, but after he protested in the courtroom when he wasn’t allowed an attorney of his choice, he was bound and gagged and bundled off for a later trial.

The Trial Of The Chicago 7 will premiere on Netflix on October 16th.
