Another legend has left us.  Hollywood royalty and head of a dynasty.  At the grand age of 103, Kirk Douglas has sadly passed away.

Acting for over sixty years, his filmography is among the most impressive ever assembled in Hollywood.

Spartacus, Paths of Glory, Gunfight At The OK Corral, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, The Vikings, Lust For Life, they just kept flowing.

He was driving force in the movement to end the Hollywood blacklist and openly defied the ban on working with filmmakers with alleged communist sympathies.

His son, Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas released a statement on behalf of the family:

“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today. To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies… but to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad. Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad – I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”

RIP Kirk Douglas.  It was a whale of a tale!
