We knew it was coming. It was reaching a point where he had no choice. Redemption and career while saving a multi-million dollar investment from a major movie studio… or oblivion. Redemption with a story that Hollywood could leverage to promote the movie, and itself. So it is that Ezra Miller has chosen redemption.
Actor Ezra Miller has released a statement to Variety in which the star reveals he is seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.”
Pronoun confusion, sexually ambiguous dressing habits and mental illness? Say it isn’t so! Once again our Outposters are proven right.
Months of challenging behaviour, arrests, assault allegations, arrests and even a felony burglary charge were pushing Warner Bros. to the brink. The Flash was a very expensive movie and a key part of the strategy for their new DCEU. It was set to clarify confusion over the DCEU timelines and differing character versions. Miller was the lead star and is set to play multiple versions of himself.
The movie is in the can already and now in post-production. Killing it would have been catastrophic on so many levels for Warner Bros. so clearly conversations have been had, orders have been issued, and therapists have been found. In the statement, Miller apologized for “their” actions:
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
Two arrests in Hawaii, a dismissed harassment charge and a felony burglary are all it took for the line to be drawn.
The Flash is set to open in theatres on June 23rd 2023. The early news from test screenings is very high with audiences reacting strongly to what they see. Recent reshoots and pick-up shots involved Miller, who was accompanied by his mother to keep him on the straight and narrow.
