The actor is in talks to join the cast of the James Wan-directed film, which will bring back Jason Momoa as the lead. As yet, it isn’t known who Asbaek will be playing.
Warner Bros. offered no comment on the report, but the fact that his casting is being talked about at all suggests that pre-production work on Aquaman 2 is starting to pick up.
Wan is returning to direct Aquaman 2 and will produce alongside Peter Safran and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will write the script.
This news comes after Amber Heard recently criticized the “paid rumours and paid campaigns” to remove her from Aquaman 2.
“Paid rumours and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality,”
“Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
The plan is to start filming Aquaman 2 this June with a December 16th, 2022 release date currently in place.
