Get ready to gyrate those hips in a way that will enflame young ladies’ passions, as the new trailer for Elvis is online.
Directed by Baz Luhrmann, known for things like Romeo + Juliet (1996), Strictly Ballroom, The Great Gatsby, and Moulin Rogue, Elvis is certainly going to be an interesting take. The choice of music stands out in the trailer, as does the style of direction Luhrmann is known for.
Elvis stars Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, David Wenham, and Kodi Smit-Mc-Phee. The writing credits are Luhrmann, Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner. The story is simple:
“A look at the life of the legendary rock and roll star, Elvis Presley.”
It does look interesting. As The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was rising to the top, the authorities and people of high moral fibre were worried about the influence he held over the youth of America. At least we can all stop worrying that kind of thing isn’t going on today.
Personally, I don’t think Butler looks much like Elvis, but that’s just me. Tom Hanks though, as Colonel Tom Parker, looks very good and this is an interesting role for Hanks.
Elvis is a legend and when the movie comes out it will probably mean he’ll be top of the charts again. Movies like Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody did the same for Elton John and Queen.
Elvis will be in cinemas on 24th June this year.
