The second official trailer has arrived for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the live-action film adaptation of the famous game.

Dungeons & Dragons is basically the alpha of table-top roleplaying. Launched as a small box set of three booklets in 1974, the game had more than three million players around the world by 1981, and the sales rate kept climbing to hit 750,000 copies of the rules being sold per year by 1984.

Dungeons & Dragons has now been translated and by 1992, the game had been translated into 14 languages and sold over 2 million copies in 44 countries worldwide. Come 2004, consumers had spent more than $1 billion on Dungeons & Dragons products and the game had been played by more than 20 million people.

Attempts to leverage this popularity have not always been successful. The 1980s cartoon is fondly remembered by Outposters of a certain age.

However, the 2000 movie starring Marlon Wayans and Justin Whalin was a critical and commercial flop. It spawned two direct-to-video sequels.

The new, rebooted version is set to open on March 31st. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves tells the story of a group of rogues who steal an artifact as part of a routine job, only to discover they have obtained the means to destroy the realm on behalf of an evil villain. Now they must fight to stop a great evil from enslaving the world.

Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Rege-Jean Page, and Hugh Grant star. It is directed by Game Night duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

It looks camp as f*ck, and as stupid as a modern HR department. I might just be in!
