Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, and Chris Mason have joined the cast of Dune: The Sisterhood on HBO Max. Production is underway on the prequel series that is set 10,000 years before the events of Dune.

The story will follow Harkonnen Sisters (Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.

Dune Sisterhood

Strong (Zero Dark Thirty, Kingsman) will star as the Emperor Javicco Corrino. A predecessor of the Emperor from the time of Dune, he is a man from a great line of war-time Emperors called upon to govern the Imperium and manage a fragile peace.

Anouka (His Dark Materials) will play Sister Theodosia, a talented and ambitious acolyte at the Sisterhood with a dangerous secret about her past while Mason (Broadchurch) will play Keiran Atreides. He is a Swordmaster to another great house and will form an unexpected connection to a member of the royal family.

They join previously announced cast members include Travis Fimmel, Indira Varma, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, and Chloe Lea. The series is said to be based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Diane Ademu-John is the creator and executive producer, with Alison Schapker showrunning. Denis Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron, Cait Collins, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert all executive produce.
