Dune: Part Two is officially filming. The Denis Villeneuve sci-fi sequel is rolling and this was confirmed by the official Twitter account.

The second half of the book is where things kick into high gear. Dune: Part One left House Atreides destroyed, Paul stranded among the Fremen in the desert and the brutal Harkonnen back in command of Arrakis.

As anyone who has read the book knows, there is a lot of galactic politics to cover in part two, along with the small matter of the coming of sleeper awakening, the coming of Muad’Dib, a jihad and a war. Expect more sandworms, the weirding way and fun for the whole family featuring the Atreides atomics.

The new movie will bring in Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as his daughter Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Baron Harkonnen’s nephew Feyd-Rautha, and Lea Seydoux as the Bene Gesserit sister Margot as the great houses of the Landsraad find out the hard way that they shouldn’t have pissed off Space Jesus.

Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin all return and Dune: Part Two is currently targeting a November 2023 release.

Dune: Part One was named by the National Board of Review as one of the 10 best films of 2021, as well as the American Film Institute in their annual top 10 list. The film went on to be nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning six, the most wins of the night for any film in contention.
