It always seems to get faster and faster, how they do the actual live action shooting of movies these days. It seems like only a few weeks ago that Dune: Part Two started. In reality it was just two days of pre-shooting for establishing shots at the Brion tomb in Altivole, Italy on July 4th 2022 that began the process.
Principal photography on studio work began on July 21st in Budapest, Hungary while location filming in Abu Dhabi, UAE only began in November.
Well, whther they are getting faster, or time just moves quicker for us because we are getting older, filming has wrapped on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.
The wrap party has been held and gifts handed out. Now it will be intense post production, VFX work and a few pick-up shots to help the edit.
Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem return. Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Lea Seydoux and Christopher Walken all join the cast as new characters as we spend more time with the Harkonnen and introduce the Emperor, the Landsraad of other great houses, and things kick-off in a spectacular way.
This time around, having survived the attempt to wipe out his entire family and people, Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen. His revenge against the conspirators who caused the fall of House Of Atreides will force him to choose between the love of his life and the fate of the entire known universe. Decisions he makes will also make him aware of a terrible future only he can foresee and control.
Dune: Part Two is currently set for a November 3rd 2023 release. Hans Zimmer is returning to handle the film’s score. Production has just begun on a prequel TV series Dune: The Sisterhood.
This movie is an adaption of the second half of the original book. Should it be a success, Villeneuve has already expressed a wish to make the second book, Dune: Messiah, into a movie.
