You know you’ve made your girlfriend watch all the movies you like, well, now it’s her turn since it’s been confirmed that Downton Abbey 2 will be out before Christmas 2021.
The ITV smash TV hit has already had one movie, which reportedly turned over $200 mill worldwide, and since it was so popular, was bound to have a sequel.
According to TV Fanatic, Gareth Neame, one of the producers, states :
“After a very challenging year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it is a huge comfort to think that better times are ahead and that next Christmas we will be re-united with the much beloved characters of Downton Abbey,”
Downton Abbey is a British historical drama television series set in the early 20th century, and is set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey between 1912 and 1926, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era.
The series has received acclaim from television critics and won numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie.
It earned the most nominations of any international television series in the history of the Primetime Emmy Awards, with twenty-seven in total (after the first two series).
No details are out about the Downton Abbey 2 plot, but almost all the original cast are back and even some new faces.
According to the official Downton Abbey Twitter feed, it’s going to be released in the cinemas during the Christmas period of 2021.
