The prawns could be back! Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp has let slip that he is writing  sequel to District 9. Working with his longtime writing partners Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell, the script is dubbed District 10 and is said to be a direct sequel to District 9, which has the honor of being the biggest South African movie of all time. Anyway, Blomkamp dropped the direct news on Twitter yesterday:

The first movie was a breakout hit that pushed Blomkamp into the big time. The tale of refugee aliens made $211 million worldwide and garnered four Academy Award nominations including best picture and original screenplay. An impressive debut.

A sequel has been talked about for years by Blomkamp insteasd made Elysium, Chappie and spent time circling an aborted Alien sequel. He recently made Demonic, and was due to work with Taylor Kitsch on Inferno before COVID-19 threw all sorts of movie plans in the air.

No other details are known at this time.
