Last month San Diego Comic Con went virtual in the face of COVID with ComicCon@Home. It did not go well. The major exhibitors stayed at home and the numbers were pretty woeful.

So all eyes turned to DC Fandome to see if there was any life in this virtual Con model in the days of lockdown. According to the data Warner Bros. has, there clearly is. Their event was a success.

Apparently the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes event was watched by 22 million people across 220 countries over 24 hours. This includes third party streams and fan generated content. It basically went viral.

On top of that was the pretty impressive trailer line-up with The Batman, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Wonder Woman 1984 pulling in over 150 million views and counting. The DCFanDome hashtag was a top trending item on Twitter and on YouTube.

So there you have it DC and WB. You have the characters and the IP. You have the fans out there who are clearly interested and engaged. No all you need to do is work on the quality, eh?

This Is Rumor Control

This comes with a crazy rumor. Apparently DC and Warner Bros. have been surprised and excited by the level of hype generated by the Snyder Cut, plus the fan acceptance of the multi-verse idea and the general warm feeling towards all things DC despite past mistakes.

As a result they are apparently seriously considering Man Of Steel 2 and, apparently, a potential Justice League 2 with Zack Snyder involved. The scuttlebutt from inside 4000 Warner Blvd, Burbank, CA. is that every single person involved with the DCEU is happier, more relaxed and more creatively engaged since Geoff Johns was removed. This is why Affleck, who had a tough personal time as Batman, is happy to return for The Flash and maybe more.

We will perhaps file this one under “Unsubstantiated” at this time and await more information.
