The rumor is gaining traction online that Charlie Cox will return as Daredevil in the as yet untitled Spider-Man 3 and confirm the place of the Netflix spin-offs in the MCU. Reported breathlessly as fact on may websites, it is yet to be fully confirmed by any representative of the actor or the studio. That hasn’t stopped much speculation on how, or where, Daredevil will fit into Spider-Man.

The cast is growing as multiverse based shenanigans seem imminent. Doctor Strange will feature, and it is likely he will serve as the gateway to the multiverse that will feature former versions of Spider-Man and the return of former villains such as Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus.

Before the multiverse is seen as the likely cause of this collision of the world’s of Sony, Disney/Marvel and Netflix, it appears there may be a much more simple reason than that. At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home we saw a new version of J. Jonah Jameson still played by the excellent J.K. Simmons. This version appears to be more of an online broadcaster rather than old school newspaper editor.

He levelled accusations at Spider-Man of the murder of Mysterio – Quentin Beck. The backlash from this was left hanging at the end of the movie, along with another key reveal that some characters may not be all they seemed.

According to a strong rumor we may not see Charlie Cox suited up as Daredevil in Spider-Man 3. In fact we will see him in his day job as he will be Peter Parker’s lawyer.

In an earlier story featuring Peter Parker and Matt Murdoch on a vide game, Daredevil knows Peter is innocent of any crimes as he can hear his heartbeat and detect voice variations of lies. It is unlikely we will see them fighting side-by-side.
