The age of the remote, virtual Con is here! Comic-Con@Home and Justice Con are just two of those that have happened recently, with Justice Con still expecting to deliver more footage of The Snyder Cut any moment now.

This new world means that the fan organised Con is now also a thing. One of these – SaveDaredevilCon – has also recently taken place. This was set-up by those who say they are taking a stand against the cancellation of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil. Do you want to tell them, or shall I?

The show gained good reviews and a large, loyal fan-base. That didn’t stop the mighty Feige Empire seizing absolute power over Marvel as Marvel Television was dismantled and folded into Marvel Studios.

With no circling PR departments and controlled, authorized comments these Fan Con sessions always have the amazing opportunity to go totally off-piste and throw up some real dirt. This time was no exception as actor Peter Shinkoda has dropped a potential R-bomb!

Shinkoda played Nobu who, as well as making delicious sushi, was the leader of the criminal syndicate The Hand in seasons 1 and 2. Shinkoda claims he was sidelined for a reason:

“Jeph Loeb [Marvel Television chief] told the writer’s room not to write for Nobu and Gao, and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners, that nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people… so don’t write about Nobu and Gao. And they were forced to put their storyline down and drop it.

I am privy to that storyline, they explained it to me, and they were very apologetic that they couldn’t go through with it, but their hands were tied. It was a very interesting storyline about having to go [to New York] under the guise of getting some kind of transplant for medical reasons, and it was a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy was fudged, so that Nobu could get into the country and then carry out his Black Sky plans.

But all that backstory was dropped, and the writers that told me they were reluctant to do it because they were so stoked about the storyline, but they were prevented. So I had to concoct this other storyline and then rock that material that I was given. Regretfully, I didn’t get to ever explore that.”

Marvel and Geoff Loeb are probably in a bunker right now, with significant puckering going on. Meanwhile, in the world of sushi…
