Is it Berlanti? Please, tell me it’s not Berlanti. I am not sure I could stand that sort of self-loathing surrender fantasy applied to the legacy of Chuck Norris.
Still, Millennials gotta Millennial without ever truly understanding what it is they are Millenialling all over. So it was inevitable that eventually, they would get round to ruin this too.
From 1993 to 2001, then with a TV movie in 2005, Chuck Norris kicked ass, unashamedly, in slow-mo in Walker Texas Ranger. The show included such talent on the production side as Paul Haggis and J. Michael Straczynski.
This time around? The Gilmore Girls And Supernatural provide the muscle – Jared Padalecki.
Deadline reports that Anna Fricke (Wayward Pines, Being Human) will write and executive produce the series which will be titled simply, Walker. Apparently, Texas is to be embarrassed of, and “Ranger” probably precedes some masculine pronouns so would, therefore, be #problematic.
The story follows a widower and father of two finding his way back to his family following being undercover for two years on a high profile case.
Investigating crime in Texas’ most elite unit with a new partner, one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history (here we go, as expected!), these Rangers follow their own moral code to fight for what’s right. Yee-haw!
Walker will likely premiere in Fall 2020.
