A brand new documentary series is going to tell the inside story of some terrifying tales direct from the set of a number of movies – those that are apparently Cursed Films.

Dedicated horror streaming channel Shudder will tell the infamous true stories of the spooky occurrences on certain Hollywood film sets, some of the most notorious productions in movie history.

The five part series will cover The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist, The Crow and Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Documentary filmmaker and Film Junk Podcast co-host Jay Cheel is behind the project.  The show will premiere at the SXSW Festival in March before its Shudder debut in April.  This will be a release on both sides of the Atlantic.

The first episode will follow the notorious problems on the set of The Exorcist, including the devastating fire.  It will also touch on the seemingly unusually high number of deaths of many people associated with the production.

This will be followed by an episode on Poltergeist which will include information about an incident on set that saw the animatronic clown doll apparently malfunction and nearly kill one of the young co-stars.

The final two episodes will deal with the tragedies on the sets of The Crow, including Brandon Lee’s apparent premonition of an early death, and Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Cursed Films features interviews with witnesses to the various incidents and accidents including the actors and filmmakers themselves.  Among the interviewees is The Exorcist star Linda Blair and The Omen director Richard Donner.

Shudder is available on numerous devices in the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland and Germany.

I seem to remember stories about some truly terrifying and spooky incidents on the set of various Omen movies but I am now too scared to Google them.
