New Writer Hired
Following the success of the Creed sequel, there was the inevitable talk about a third movie to feature Michael B Jordan stepping into the ring for the third time.
Jordan will definitely be back for Creed III, however, this time he’s been offered the opportunity to direct the film.
Sylvester Stallone, meanwhile, has said that he’s done playing Rocky Balboa in the Creed movies, although I’ve heard he’s keeping a candle burning, and his door is open for Rocky VII.
Then things went quiet for more than a year.
Now, the button has been pushed, with the news that a fresh writer is coming aboard for the new Creed film. Zach Baylin, who’s written the upcoming Will Smith movie King Richard, will be penning whatever Creed III ends up being called.
Ryan Coogler reinvigorated the Rocky franchise with the 2015 spin-off Creed, which earned over $173 million at the worldwide box office and an Oscar nomination for original star Stallone. The sequel, which was released in 2018, was directed by Steven Caple Jr. and made over $214 million globally.
Jordan is a busy man though, so quite where this one lands on his schedule is anybody’s guess. But at the very least, it sounds like an active project for the moment. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more about it.
