The winter news, if in Europe and the US, on Coronavirus makes for some pretty grim reading. In Europe a second spike appears to be underway. Despite second lockdowns, fire-breaks and tier systems hospitalizations have passed that of the last peak in March. In the US, the single wave rolls on.

The US has so far avoided the total shutdown that some other countries implemented in an attempt to stop the spread. However some states have more strict controls in place than others. California is one of these places. Despite more firm restrictions it hasn’t stopped California becoming the first US state to pass 2 million confirmed cases of COVID.

Now the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an email asking film and TV productions in the area to “strongly consider” pausing operations for a few weeks. This is usually their first shot across the bows before more heavyweight measures are introduced.

California has a stay-at-home order in place but music, TV and film productions are allowed to operate with safeguards in place.

Tom Cruise could not be reached for comment as he doesn’t even own a phone, and is away from home somewhere bringing his A-Game.
