The numbers are in, and the number one streaming show in America in the week of August 31st to September 6th was Cobra Kai. It didn’t just win. It smashed it. It racked up 2.2 billion streaming minutes. The nearest competition was Lucifer at just 1.4 billion streaming minutes. So people sat down to binge watch Cobra Kai in huge numbers.

This is beyond expectations for Netflix, who acquired the Karate Kid sequel show from YouTube Red / Premium ahead of the third season. They immediately showed Season One and Two, which scored these figures.

Now they have set a date for season 3, and have responded to the numbers by ordering season 4. Fresh with a new announcement teaser comes the news that season 3 will land on January 8th 2021.

In the new season, the fallout from the battle of Valley High will see Johnny Lawrence go backwards, while Daniel LaRusso returns to Japan in order to try and centre himself without the mentorship of his Karate Kid sensei, Mr. Miyagi.
