George Clooney has admitted that he told fellow actor Ben Affleck to avoid playing Batman. He told Howard Stern, in a recent interview, that he vehemently told Affleck not to go near the character as he had such a terrible experience in 1997’s Batman & Robin. However he admits Affleck:

“…didn’t listen and ended up doing a great job.”

The 1997 movie is often regarded as the worst Batman movie of all time and Clooney has frequently had no problem mocking the movie. He went on to say:

“I was wrong, I can only impart wisdom from [my] own experience.”

He said Affleck got off lightly because he didn’t have nipples on his Batsuit. Clooney admitted he still can’t sit through Batman & Robin, insisting that it is physically painful for him to watch it.

He says that despite these feelings, there is nothing he could have done differently with it.

“It’s a big machine, that thing. You have to remember at that point, I was just an actor getting an acting job. I wasn’t the guy who could greenlight a movie … I just sort of jumped in and did what they said.”

Clooney says he never even saw Arnold Schwarzenegger during filming, despite the fact that the pair share several scenes together, such was the size and scale of the production.
