An updated press release quietly slipped out that confirmed that Christina Ricci has joined the cast of the fourth installment in The Matrix franchise at Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie is rumored to be titled Matrix Resurrections, according to a leak.

Collider discovered the listing in a newly updated press kit released by Warners. Deadline then ran with the story and had it confirmed. Details of her character, along with all the new actors joining the returning cast, remain a secret.

Ricci made her film debut at the age of nine in Mermaids (1990), which was followed by a breakout role as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel. Subsequent appearances in Casper and Now and Then (both 1995) turned her into a teen icon.

She moved into adult-oriented roles with The Ice Storm (1997), Sleepy Hollow (1999), and Monster (2003). Her other credits include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), Black Snake Moan (2006), and Speed Racer (2008).

Her movies have grossed in excess of US$1.4 billion.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, and Jonathan Groff are the new guys in The Matrix. Keanu Reeves (Neo), Carrie Ann-Moss (Trinity), Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe), Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson), and Lambert Wilson (The Merovingian) all return.

The fourth movie to bear The Matrix name is targeting a cinema and HBO Max release on December 22nd.
