The Dread Pirate Roberts himself, Cary Elwes, is joining the cast of Five Eyes. Miramax and STXFilms are again working with Guy Ritchie on the spy themed thriller.

This will be the fourth time Ritchie and has worked with Jason Statham who will play the main lead. This follows the acclaimed Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, plus the not so acclaimed Revolver.

Ritchie’s is on a roll with the live-action Disney adaption of Aladdin making serious money while showing a totally different side to Ritchie’s repertoire.  His follow up, The Gentlemen, was classed as a successful return to his roots.

Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies wrote The Gentleman and return here to create the story around an MI6 agent (Statham) who must work with the rest of the Five Eyes alliance (in the real world the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) to find and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology by an elusive billionaire arms broker.

His partner will be a CIA high-tech expert played by the lady named after a shopping mall, Aubrey Plaza. Elwes will apparently play Nathan Jasmine, Statham’s handler.

Shooting kicks off this month in Turkey and Qatar, COVID permitting.
