Back in May, we reported that there is a new installment of the Evil Dead series coming to HBO Max. Titled Evil Dead Rise, it will continue Sam Raimi’s cannon but would not star Bruce Campbell, who would only be serving as an executive producer.
It’s well known that Campbell is on record saying he won’t be back as Ash in any more Evil Dead movies, saying:
“It’s time to hang up the chainsaw.”
Well, it turns out that while he won’t be playing Ash on the big screen, or little screen if you’re into streaming, again just as he said he is returning as Ash Williams for a computer game.
Saber Interactive, who are working on The Evil Dead: The Game, were not present at this year’s Game Awards, but Campbell was and had a few things to say about the forthcoming game. According to Collider, Campbell disclosed that he, Ellen Sandweiss, and Hel Delrich are all returning from the original Evil Dead movie for the game.
The game will have single-player and multi-player modes. It seeks to expand on the success of the classic horror movie.
They will only be providing voice performances for the in-game “playable survivors”. There will be special appearances in the game from Betsy Baker, who played Linda, and Theresa Tilly, who played Shelly. At the moment their exact roles remain a mystery.
Bruce Campbell plays four versions of Ash in the game, including the fan-favorite Evil Ash.
Reports say that the game is due out in Feb 2022, so fans won’t have to wait long to play it. The game will be available on Xbox, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
