Everyone’s top-three Lex Luthor, Clancy Brown, is to join John Wick 4 at Lionsgate. The movie is currently shooting. He joins Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane in the new film. Lawrence Fishburne returns as The Bowery King. Director Chad Stahelski says in a statement:

“I have been a fan of Clancy Brown’s since I can remember. To have him be a part of this project is an honor. He will make a perfect addition to the World of John Wick!”

On May 20, 2019, following the release of John Wick 3: Parabellum, Lionsgate announced that the fourth movie was already in the works. Fans who had been receiving John Wick text updates from Lionsgate received the sequel news in assassin-speak:

“You have served. You will be of service. John Wick: Chapter 4 is coming – May 21, 2021″

That date was blown by the COVID19 pandemic. When discussing the fourth John Wick movie, and the potential to end the franchise, Stahelski spoke to IndieWire saying that the fourth film cannot provide a happy ending:

“John may survive all this shit but at the end of it, there’s no happy ending. He’s got nowhere to go. Honestly, I challenge you right now, here’s a question to you: How do you fucking want me to end it? Do you think he’s going to ride off into the fucking sunset? He’s killed 300 fucking people and he’s just going to [walk away], everything’s okay? He’s just going to fall in love with a love interest? If you’re this fucking guy, if this guy really exist[ed], how is this guy’s day going to end? He’s fucked for the rest of his life. It’s just a matter of time.”

Shay Hatten and Michael Finchwrote the movie that is currently being shot in France, Germany, and Japan ahead of the May 27th, 2022 release.

Brown appeared in the last two seasons of Billions and will next be seen in Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood in November.
