Pitt and Clooney will star in an unnamed thriller written and directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony, Lionsgate, Apple, Netflix, Amazon, Annapurna, Universal, MGM and Warner Bros are all locked in a bidding war for the project.
It’s said the resulting deal could net Clooney and Pitt $20million or higher each. While there’s little information about the film, it’s described as telling the tale of:
“…two lone wolf fixers assigned to do the same job”.
Pitt and Clooney will also produce the movie with their production companies Smokehouse Pictures (Clooney) and Plan B Entertainment (Pitt).
Clooney and Pitt have previously worked together on the Ocean’s 11 franchise as well as Burn After Reading. Clooney was last seen in the Netflix sci-fi movie The Midnight Sky, which he also directed. Pitt’s last acting project was also a sci-fi flick, 2019’s Ad Astra. Since then, he’s been busy behind the camera, but he has lots of upcoming acting projects in the works, including the action thriller Bullet Train and Damien Chazelle’s next movie, Babylon.
Director Watts has achieved notable success with Marvel, with his third Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, set to hit cinemas on December 17th.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will star Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, and Alfred Molina, who reprises his role as Doctor Octopus from 2004’s Spider-Man 2.
