Fourteen months ago there was a final trailer for Marvel’s Black Widow. Only it wasn’t. After being delayed, delayed again, being the subject of release strategy speculation and finally getting a new date, Black Widow also gets a new trailer. This one really is the final trailer. Honest!
July 9th is the big day for a simultaneous theatre Disney+ launch. It will be behind the Disney+ Premier Access paywall as per Mulan.
With WandaVision and Falcon And The Winter Soldier rolling hard on Disney+ and the next phase of the MCU underway, they could no longer wait. There is a whole year of content queued up behind this and the phase is already half in the can.
Black Widow will primarily set in the year gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Natasha Romanoff is on the run following Berlin and will be caught up in a family issue from her time before SHIELD.
Will there be any fallout included from her sacrifice on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame? Will there be a comic book style reversal included? Will it lay some foundations for the Hawkeye show that could potentially deal with more post-Vormir activities? Who knows!
