In what may well have been one of the craziest pitches ever, Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) has been brought onboard a new movie spinning up at Amazon via Chernin Entertainment. Jonathan Lethem’s 1997 novel As She Climbed Across the Table features, we are not joking, a love triangle between a man, a woman and a black hole.

English playright and sought after creator of Mindhunters on Netflix, Joe Penhall, is writing the script.

Alice and her scientific colleagues have created a black hole that they name Lack, a quantum singularity in their lab. The strange thing is that it appears to be selective about what it sucks in. It accepts some objects and rejects others. According to the blurb:

“To Alice, this selectivity translates into an irresistible personality. To Phillip, her ex-boyfriend, the void becomes a rival lover – spurring on feeling of intense jealousy as he embarks on a nigh-impossible, and multi-universal, quest to win her back.”

OK… color us intrigued.
