The Snyderverse is being ended. Cavill is out. Affleck is done. Wonder Woman 3 is not happening, so despite whatever anyone says online we imagine Gal Gadot’s time in that role is over. Now comes the news that Black Adam has been cancelled within the DCEU in it’s current form. Let’s be honest here, if they could halt Aquaman 2 and The Flash they would, but those ships have expensively sailed.

“Look, over there… is that our DCEU career running away?”

As per the end of Cavill’s time in his role of Superman, all sorts of nice sounds are being made that DC and Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks, have agreed to continue to explore ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters. Don’t kid yourselves. It is over and Johnson has been outed just as finally as the rest. Black Adam vs. Superman ain’t happening and this is quite the reversal from where we thought we were just a few short weeks ago.

The Rock has issued a statement:

“My passionate friends, I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.

However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters. James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed.

It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG. You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words.”

Gunn has responded to the statement saying:

“Love The Rock & I’m always excited to see what he & Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon”.

Gunn and Safran has promised further news on their plan and approach in January.
