Still reeling from their involvement in Terminator: Dark Fate, with Star Trek stalled and Transformers over, Paramount Pictures needs a hit. It has limited funds and properties with which to do it.

So in what could be a sensible move they have inked a one-time licence deal with Netflix for Beverly Hills Cop 4.  This will mean the streamer produces the movie.  Eddie Murphy and Jerry Bruckheimer will remain involved.

Paramount has been developing another Beverly Hills Cop instalment for years and previously tried to push a new take featuring Axel Foley’s son.  That failed to launch.

No conformation as to whether the movie will get a theatrical release as well as stream.  Paramount and Netflix have previously worked together on Annihilation and The Cloverfield Paradox.

Murphy recently found big success and good reviews on Netflix for Dolomite Is My Name and is negotiating over some stand-up specials for the streaming service.
